CRAZY OTTO – IN THE LAND OF MAKE BELIEVE (SLEEVE NOTES)
“Crazy Otto” started out as a piano tuner (or de-tuner) for Germans watching early post war television in Berlin, but the release of a record with his own Crazy Otto Rag soon changed all that. The disc became a worldwide hit, with the inevitable ‘imitators’. American Johnny Maddox also recorded it pretty quickly, but he had long been known for what is known there as ‘Stride’ piano, found in bordellos and saloon bars since pioneering times. Well, Fritz Shulz Reichel (Otto’s ‘keeper,’ so to speak) ensured from day one that you can have lots of fun (musically speaking) without frequenting the sleazier side of town.
Apart from the seven dwarves and Santa, the young folk can have fun with a Paper Doll and an Alley Cat and a departing Choo Choo as well as, with luck, seeing a Glow Worm (if nobody knows they’re still awake) and they best mind they don’t slip on those Autumn Leaves as the time nears for that eagerly awaited visit to Santa, to put just that little extra sparkle into the proceedings.
So jump on the sleigh and we’ll get going. Oh! I forgot to mention, you’re not precluded from the party if you’re over the age of five, just as long as you’re still a child at heart!
Right now roll back the carpet and have fun.
