Well known around the rally fields of Yorkshire, this 48-key Chiappa organ has never sounded better.
Built in 1920 for the Tuby family, Yorkshire Rose was one of only four built. It travelled around the fairs with a “chair-o-plane” ride and was a familiar sight at steam rallies, fetes and charity functions around the north of England.
The company was founded in London at the end of the 19th century by Giuseppe Chiappa and his three sons. For many years the company was run by Victor Chiappa until his death in 1993. His only son, Albert, although not involved in the day to day running of the company, continued to run Chiappa Ltd; and saw the company enter the 21st century with over a hundred years of trading. Albert died in 2003.
This CD was released on the OK Rollem Productions label (aka “Old Century Sounds”).
This was a small independent record label run by Ken Mellor, who produced short-run CDs of various organ recordings. Ken retired in 2023 and this is a REPACKAGED DOUBLE CD containing volumes 1 & 2 (The tracks are the same).
