SLEEVE NOTES:
Here is yet another selection of familiar tunes for retro organ fans which we have unearthed from my private collection of recordings made over the last decade. These include compositions from Bert Kaempfert, Lennon & McCartney, Michel Legrand and other well established songwriters.
“What Are You Doing The Rest of Your Life” is meant as a personal tribute to a musician friend ‘Chico Lovell’, who I would listen to on Tuesday evenings in Bakewell Rutland Tavern now long gone) play this on his Gibson guitar as a solo before the rest of the members of ‘The Bakewell Five Piece’ would join in, with Don Howard on keyboard, Phil Fawbert on trumpet next to his brother Mick on the drums and John Taylor on bass guitar.
Also another regular to these nostalgic evenings is “Mean To Me” which is also one of a medley I play on the Yamaha Tyros 5 in a big band sound on my CD titled ‘Easy Listening.’ If Chico is listening to my versions of these old numbers in another dimension he will probably laugh and subject me to one of his playful quirky comments about how he detests the organ ever since his parents forced him to watch the old film version of Phantom of the Opera… “Ya can really mekit soon’d that bad?” he may well ask about this CD in dulcet tones of his Scottish Brogue.
Well now, enough of my ramblings. I hope those of you who bought my previous two albums in this Lounge organ series enjoyed them enough to part with a few more shillings for this one as it is in pretty much the same keeping sound-wise using my trusty KeyB Live organ and the rest of the band again provided by the Roland BK-7 Module.
Incidentally, those of you who are wondering whether the picture of the organ on the front cover is my KeyB live, your assumptions are correct.
Here’s to Lounge organ Volume 4!
