Organ and Keyboard Cavalcade Review by Ian King
This is an unusual compilation as it contains twelve classical tracks (and classical ‘feel’ tracks) that have been carefully plucked from half a dozen or so of Penny’s general releases. These have been played on various Yamaha organs and keyboards.
Now I’m not much of a fan of classical CDs, but this contains a lovely mix of well-known tunes and is more pop-classical than heavy-classical. We have some classical favourites as well as a couple of pop-tunes played in a classical style. The playing is top-notch and the sound is very standard throughout considering some of the tracks date back to the late-1990s and the EL90. There are only twelve tracks with a running time of 40 minutes, however this is reflected in the price of £7.95.
Highlights include, “Millennium Toccata”, “The Cuckoo”, “Here Comes the Sun”, “The Wilcroft Fanfare”, “A Whiter Shade of Pale” (in the style of “Air on a G String”), “Tuba Tune”, “In Dir ist Freude” and “Prelude in Classic Style”.
