(2CD) The Great Pop Organ Sound Of Klaus Wunderlich
Running Time 2 hours 15 minutes – Price £6.95

A few months ago I reviewed “Absolutely Wunderlich,” a new double CD set from Klaus on the ‘Not Now Music’ label and hot on the heels of that comes their second release. While that set featured unreleased rehearsal tapes from Klaus’ 1995 tour, this one is a compilation containing thirty-seven tracks (packing in eighty-seven tunes) taken from nineteen LPs.
The years covered span 1975 through to 1989 which follows on perfectly from Bell Musik’s 2012 release “Maestro” which plucked material from 1967 to 1974. That set featured his “Hammond Pops” and “Hits Again” series with two medleys from each album and this one does the same with two from each of his later albums. These include “Wunderlich Pops,” “Pops International,” “Pop Party” and “Pop Organ Hit Party 1 & 2” to name a few. While “Maestro” was a mainly Hammond affair, this set features his move into the fabulous world of Wersi which was the period that kick-started many a collection.
If you’re a Klaus fan, you will have some of these in your cupboards (or more likely, lofts), but I’m sure they never sounded as good as they do on this set. Even though the tracks are taken from pristine LPs, they have been sprinkled with anti-scratchy fairy dust by producer Werner Kohlhammer and the result is a lovely set with a warm sound.
If you haven’t got “Maestro,” we now have copies for £8.95 and we also have “Absolutely Wunderlich” for £6.95 (both are double CDs).
